Staying in Sofia's Central Station area
Check whether your departure is from the railway station or the neighboring Central Bus Station before choosing accommodation. They are separate buildings, and another coach departure point may require a different walk. Save the exact terminal and entrance, then allow time to find your departure information once you arrive with your bags.

What is near Central Station area
Central Bus Station
Allow about five minutes on foot from the railway station's main entrance, checking the route to your operator's departure building.
Lavov Most
Walk about fifteen minutes south from the railway station along Maria Luiza Boulevard to reach the bridge.
Women's Market
Allow about twenty minutes from the railway station, heading south before turning toward Stefan Stambolov Boulevard.
Eating in Central Station area
Plan meals around your departure time rather than assuming station counters will be open. For a longer wait, compare nearby bakeries and simple restaurants outside the terminal buildings. Buy water and a snack in advance if your train or coach leaves early.
Getting around from Central Station area
Central Railway Station metro station is on M2. Serdika is two stops away, with connections to M1 and M4. Confirm your coach operator's departure point separately, since a ticket marked Sofia does not by itself identify the correct terminal.

Are the train and bus stations the same building?
No. The railway station and Central Bus Station are neighboring buildings. Check which one you need before following signs or asking a taxi to drop you off.
How much time should I allow before departure?
Follow your operator's instructions and add time to locate the correct building and departure information. Do not assume the walk from a nearby hotel is your only preparation.
Can I reach the main sights by metro?
Take M2 to Serdika for the old center. From there, several central sights are within walking distance, and other metro lines provide onward connections.
