Staying in Varenna
Varenna has three useful reference points: the railway station, the ferry landing and Piazza San Giorgio in the older center. They are close enough to walk between, but slopes and steps matter with luggage. Ask your accommodation for an arrival route from your actual transport stop. A room near the station can simplify departure, while one near the square places the villa gardens closer to your door.

Villa Monastero
About five minutes from Piazza San Giorgio, the villa entrance is convenient for a garden visit after exploring the upper center.
Castello di Vezio

Eating in Varenna
The old waterfront has compact terraces, while the streets around Piazza San Giorgio offer alternatives above the lake. Reserve if you have a particular dinner setting in mind. For an early train, check breakfast arrangements beforehand rather than relying on finding somewhere open along your station route.
Getting around from Varenna
