Dubrovnik cable car tickets and summit planning
Decide how you will come down before choosing a cable car ticket. The walking route from Srđ is a proper hillside descent, with rough ground and limited shade, rather than a short substitute for the ride. At the summit, leave time for the return queue and check the final departure. Wind and cloud can change the experience even when conditions below feel comfortable.

Return ticket
Choose a return ticket if you intend to travel both ways by cable car. Check the operating hours and final descent before spending time away from the upper station.
One-way ticket
A one-way ticket suits visitors with a separate transport plan or suitable equipment for the hillside path. Check which direction your ticket covers before paying.

The best time to visit
Choose clear conditions when the view matters most, and look at the summit weather as well as the forecast for the coast. Check official operating information before walking to the station if strong wind is forecast.
How to get to Dubrovnik cable car
The lower station is on Ulica kralja Petra Krešimira IV, above the northern side of the old town. From Ploče Gate, allow about ten minutes uphill on foot. Confirm the nearest operating bus stop locally if avoiding the climb.
Tips for your visit
- Bring a light layer, since exposed summit conditions can feel cooler than the streets below.
- Treat the walking descent as a hike and carry suitable footwear, water and enough daylight.
- Check whether your ticket covers only the cable car before entering any separate summit attraction.

Does an online ticket remove every queue?
Buying online can avoid the ticket purchase queue, but you may still wait to board. Check whether your ticket has any specific boarding conditions.
Can I walk down instead of taking the return ride?
Yes, if you are prepared for a rough hillside path. Wear suitable shoes, carry water and allow enough daylight; it is unsuitable as an improvised descent in beach footwear.
What happens if strong wind stops the service?
Check the operator's current notices and ticket terms for disruption arrangements. If you are already at the summit, follow staff instructions about the available return options.
Is the lower station inside the old town?
No. It is above the northern side of the walls on a road outside the pedestrian center. Allow for an uphill walk from the eastern gate.
