Zadar tours and tickets

Zadar's old town is small and free, and the Sea Organ and Greeting to the Sun need no ticket. What is worth booking is the day trips: Plitvice Lakes uses timed entry that fills in summer, and the Kornati boats and the Krka falls need a day or two. A table at a good restaurant is worth reserving in peak season.

Book these first

A table at the better restaurants

Questions

Booking tours and tickets in Zadar

Do I need to book Plitvice Lakes?

In summer, yes. Entry is timed, and slots sell out on busy days. Book a morning slot, and arrive early to avoid the crowds.

Can I swim at Krka?

Not at the main falls. Swimming is limited to marked areas. Check the park rules, since they change. The boat ride is a good alternative.

Is a Kornati trip worth it?

Yes, for the clear water and the empty islands. A small boat is better for a quiet swim. Check the weather on the morning of the trip.

What is the Sea Organ?

A line of pipes under the waterfront steps that play notes as the waves pass. It is free and runs all day. Go at sunset.

Do ferries run all year?

Yes, but the timetable is reduced in winter. Check the schedule, and book vehicles ahead in summer. Foot passengers can buy tickets at the port.

What can wait until I arrive?

The old town, the Sea Organ, the cathedral tower and the museum can be done on the day. Book Plitvice, the Kornati boat and a dinner table first.
