Staying in Sliema: harbor side or open-sea side
Sliema has two distinct waterfronts, and choosing between them changes your daily route. The Strand faces Valletta and puts the ferry within easy reach. Tower Road follows the open sea, with rocky bathing areas and a longer promenade walk. Inland streets connect the shores over higher ground, so check the gradient as well as the distance. A room advertised as near the sea may still be a considerable walk from the ferry.

Does Sliema have a broad sandy beach?
Much of the open-sea shore is rock, with steps or ladders at some bathing spots. Check sea conditions and your exit route before entering the water.
