Staying in Innere Neustadt: streets behind Hauptstrasse

Hauptstrasse provides an easy north to south route, but the district rewards a detour through Königstrasse and its adjoining streets. Build a short loop between Albertplatz, the Japanese Palace and the Golden Rider statue. Along the river, the open lawns give a broader view of the old town than you get from the bridge itself.

Questions

Staying in Innere Neustadt: streets behind Hauptstrasse

Which streets make a short evening walk?

Follow Hauptstrasse toward the Golden Rider, turn toward the Japanese Palace, then return along Königstrasse. This gives you a compact loop with several places to stop.

Where can I photograph the old town skyline?

Walk down to Königsufer and try several positions along the riverbank. The space beside the bridge gives a different angle from the lawns farther east.

Should I use Dresden-Neustadt or the main station?

Check which station your train serves before choosing. Dresden-Neustadt can save a cross-city journey, but some services and connections require the main station.
