Torre del Mangia tickets and the climb
Treat the tower as a physical climb when planning the rest of your day. Leave a gap before your next booking so you can descend without rushing and recover afterwards. The entrance is at the Palazzo Pubblico end of the Campo, below the higher northern edge of the square. Before buying, check the current ticket arrangements, entry conditions and weather notices.

Tower admission
Choose admission specifically covering the tower and confirm how entry slots are allocated. Check the current official sales arrangements before relying on advance booking.
Combined admission, if offered
If a combined ticket with the Museo Civico is available, check its validity and the entry rules for each part. Museum admission alone should not be assumed to include the climb.

The best time to visit
Choose a clear part of the day and leave flexibility for weather disruption. In hot weather, an earlier visit makes the approach through town more comfortable. Check official opening hours before planning around evening light.
How to get to Torre del Mangia
Piazza Gramsci is a useful bus arrival point for walking to the tower. Allow about 15 minutes through the center, then cross downhill to the Palazzo Pubblico side of Piazza del Campo. Check the entrance signs on arrival.
Tips for your visit
- Wear shoes with grip and keep your hands available for the narrow stairs.
- Check bag storage arrangements before arriving with a large backpack or suitcase.
- Leave time between the climb and another timed visit, particularly if you need a rest afterwards.
Torre del Mangia tickets and the climb
Can I reach the viewing level by lift?
Plan on climbing stairs. If you cannot manage a long, narrow staircase, check access information before buying and choose another viewpoint if needed.
Does bad weather affect entry?
Weather can interrupt access to the tower. Check the official notice before setting out and ask about the ticket conditions if your climb cannot proceed.
Can I take a large bag up the tower?
Check the current bag rules and storage arrangements before arrival. Narrow stairs make bulky luggage impractical, so leave large bags at your accommodation where possible.
Is the tower ticket the same as the museum ticket?
Do not assume they are interchangeable. Read the inclusions carefully and confirm whether your purchase covers the tower, the Museo Civico or both.
