Fira to Oia walk: preparing for the full rim route
The practical turning point is Imerovigli: beyond the village sections, the walk becomes more exposed and services are less dependable. Decide there whether everyone has enough water and energy to continue. Treat the route as a hike with climbs and loose surfaces, rather than a continuous paved promenade. Keep the Skaros descent separate from your main walking estimate if you add it.

Fira to Oia walk: preparing for the full rim route
How long does the Fira to Oia walk take?
Allow 3 to 5 hours with rests and photographs. Walking pace, heat and optional detours affect the total, so avoid tying the finish to a tight reservation.
Can I walk only part of the route?
Yes. Fira to Firostefani or Imerovigli gives you a shorter outing. Decide on your turning point before continuing into the more exposed stretches beyond the villages.
Is the walk suitable for pushchairs?
The full route has steps, rough surfaces and loose ground, making it unsuitable for a normal pushchair. Assess a short paved village section separately if traveling with young children.
Does the route include Skaros Rock?
The main route passes through Imerovigli without requiring the descent toward Skaros. Add that detour only if you have enough time, water and energy for the return climb.
