The stone-paved Street of the Knights in the medieval Old Town of Rhodes
Rhodes · Itinerary

3 days in Rhodes, including Lindos

With three days, give Lindos a full day and divide Rhodes town into two contrasting walks. Start with the medieval center and its collections, then spend your other town day between the sea and Monte Smith. Check the Lindos bus timetable before setting your order, so the longer journey fits comfortably between your arrival and departure.

At a glance

  1. Day 1: A full day inside the medieval walls

    Morning
Enter the Old Town early and follow the Street of the Knights uphill to the palace. Visit the Palace of the Grand Master before lunch, checking its official opening hours before you set out.
    Afternoon
Spend the afternoon at the Archaeological Museum of Rhodes, allowing a quiet pause in its courtyard. Afterwards, walk toward Hippocrates Square and continue into the lanes of the Jewish Quarter.
    Evening
Stay inside the walls after the daytime groups have thinned. Retrace a few lanes at a slower pace, then settle into dinner without trying to cross town for another sight.
    Dinner
Find a taverna in the Old Town and order grilled fish or stuffed vegetables with a salad to share.
  2. Day 2: Lindos from the hilltop to the bay

    Morning
Take a bus from the east side bus station to Lindos, checking the current departure and return times first. Climb toward the Acropolis before the strongest heat, carrying water and wearing shoes with grip.
    Afternoon
Return through the village lanes for lunch, then head toward the bay for a swim. Leave a generous margin for the walk back uphill toward your departure point, especially in hot weather.
    Evening
Return to Rhodes town using the bus you identified earlier. Keep the evening simple, with a short walk near your accommodation and dinner close by after the travel and hill climb.
    Dinner
In Lindos, try Mavrikos for lunch and ask about the day's fish or vegetable dishes before ordering.
  3. Day 3: The waterfront and the ancient hill

    Morning
Walk around Mandraki harbor while the day is still cool, taking in the New Market area and waterfront. Continue north toward Elli beach rather than returning through the Old Town.
    Afternoon
Spend the early afternoon swimming or resting beside Elli beach. Have a light lunch and return to your room for a break before taking a bus or taxi toward Monte Smith.
    Evening
Explore the stadium and temple area at the Acropolis of Rhodes while there is still daylight. Stay for the sunset view, with your route back to town already planned.
    Dinner
Choose a taverna around Mandraki for grilled meat or fish, with a Greek salad and vegetables alongside.
Tips

Tips for 3 days in Rhodes

  • Check the official Lindos Acropolis visitor information before traveling, and consider arranging a summer tour a few days ahead.
  • Carry swimwear on the Lindos day, but make the Acropolis climb before settling down at the bay.
  • Keep the Lindos day flexible if very hot weather makes a hilltop visit uncomfortable.
Questions

Can I visit Lindos without hiring a car?

Public buses leave Rhodes town from the east side bus station. Check the current timetable and identify a suitable return before leaving.
