Château d'If and Frioul: choosing the right tickets
Start by deciding whether you want the fortress, a walk on Frioul or both. These involve different stops, and a boat ticket does not automatically cover entry to the château. Read the route details before paying, including the order of calls and return arrangements. Leave enough flexibility to shorten the island walk if conditions or services change.

Château d'If and the Frioul islands tickets and tours
Ferry crossing
Choose a crossing that explicitly serves your intended island stops. Check whether the booking covers If, Frioul or both, and how the return journey works.
Fortress admission
Check the château's official site for entry arrangements. Unless your selected product explicitly includes admission, treat the fortress ticket as separate from the ferry.
Combined island itinerary
If you want both stops, check that the available sailings leave enough time at each. A combined route still needs a workable connection between the islands.

The best time to visit
Choose a day with flexibility on either side of the excursion. Check both sailing information and fortress access before leaving your accommodation, as favourable weather in the city does not guarantee every island stop.
How to get to Château d'If and the Frioul islands
Take metro line 1 to Vieux-Port, then follow your operator's directions to the departure quay. Allow roughly five to 10 minutes to walk to the relevant waterfront boarding area, plus the requested boarding time.
Tips for your visit
- Download both ferry and fortress confirmations so you can show the correct ticket at each stage.
- Carry water, sun protection and shoes suitable for rough paths if you continue onto Frioul.
- Choose a return that leaves some margin before any train, flight or other fixed commitment.
Château d'If and Frioul: choosing the right tickets
Does the ferry ticket include the château?
Only if your selected product explicitly says so. Check the ferry booking and fortress admission separately before assuming you have paid for both.
Can I visit If and Frioul on one trip?
Yes, when the sailing pattern permits it. Check the calls, connections and time available on each island before choosing your tickets.
What if boats cannot stop at If?
Follow the operator's instructions and check the conditions attached to your booking. Do not assume a disrupted stop automatically changes your separate fortress ticket.
Is the excursion suitable with limited mobility?
Check boarding assistance with the operator and fortress access with the monument. Quays, boat access and island paths can each present different obstacles.
