Lagos tours and tickets
Lagos is a coast to explore from the water. The grottoes and sea caves are reached by boat or kayak, and summer slots fill a day or two ahead. The old town, the beaches and the market need nothing. Sagres, Silves and Portimão are easy day trips, and you can do them with a rental car or a small-group tour.
Book these first

- A clifftop or marina table
- A few days ahead in summer. Places with a view fill at sunset, and some small kitchens take no bookings at all.

Booking tours and tickets in Lagos
Do I need to book a grotto boat?
In July and August, yes, a day or two ahead. Outside summer you can usually buy on the day at the marina. Check the weather, since rough seas cancel trips.
Is a kayak tour safe for beginners?
Yes, if you choose a guided tour in calm water. Morning tours are the calmest. Tell the guide if you have not paddled before, and wear a life jacket.
Can I see the caves without a boat?
Partly. The Ponta da Piedade viewpoint shows the arches from above, but the caves are only reached by water. A boat or kayak is the only way in.
Is it worth renting a car?
For Sagres and the villages, yes. For the town and the beaches, no. A small-group tour is a good alternative for the coast if you do not want to drive.
What can wait until I arrive?
The old town, the market, Praia da Rocha and Silves can be done on the day. Book a boat or kayak trip and a summer dinner table a few days ahead.
How do I get to Sagres without a car?
There is a regional bus, but it runs few times a day. A small-group tour or a taxi is simpler. Check the return times before you go.
