Nordkette cable car tickets and route planning
The journey involves separate stages rather than one continuous cable car ride. From Congress, the funicular reaches Hungerburg, where you walk to the cable car for Seegrube. A further cable car continues to Hafelekar. Match your ticket to the highest station you want to reach, and leave time for each interchange as well as the outdoor part of your visit.

Choose the return journey to Hafelekar if you want all the transport stages from the center. Check the listed starting station and included sections before paying.
Hungerburg funicular return
This covers the lower journey for a visit to Hungerburg. It does not by itself take you to Seegrube or Hafelekar.
Innsbruck Card
If using the city card, check its current Nordkette entitlement, validity period and redemption instructions. Confirm how the included ascent and descent work before joining a queue.

The best time to visit
Choose a day with visibility at the upper stations and manageable wind. Check the official operating report before leaving your accommodation, then check the final descent times for every stage you intend to use.
How to get to Nordkette cable car
Start at Congress funicular station beside Rennweg, roughly a ten minute walk from the Golden Roof via the Hofburg area. At Hungerburg, follow signs outside to the Seegrube cable car rather than expecting to remain inside one station.
Tips for your visit
- Photograph the final descent times for each stage before starting your ascent.
- The walk from Hafelekar station toward the summit involves uneven ground; wear shoes with grip.
- Check each section's operating status, since wind or maintenance can affect the upper cable cars separately.

Does a ticket to Hungerburg reach Hafelekar?
No. Hungerburg is the lower interchange. You need a ticket covering the cable cars to Seegrube and Hafelekar to continue.
Can I start the mountain journey at Hungerburg?
Yes. If you reach Hungerburg by road, choose a ticket with the correct starting point and check which return sections it covers.
Is the summit walk included in the cable car ride?
The cable car ends at Hafelekar station. Reaching the summit viewpoint involves a separate outdoor walk on uneven mountain ground.
What happens if the upper section is closed?
Check the operator's current ticket conditions before buying. A lower section may still run, but access and any refund depend on your ticket.
