Staying around the Duomo and central Florence
The streets around the cathedral change character within a few turns. Via dei Calzaiuoli carries a steady stream toward Piazza della Signoria, while Via dei Servi frames the dome from the north. Before choosing a room, check whether its windows face a pedestrian shopping street or an internal courtyard. Stone paving makes wheeled luggage noisy, and the last stretch from a taxi drop-off may still be on foot.

Eating in Duomo and the center

Can a taxi take me directly to my hotel?
That depends on the street and its access restrictions. Send the hotel your arrival details and ask for the nearest permitted drop-off, particularly if you have heavy luggage.
Which streets give a good view of the dome?
Via dei Servi gives a clear approach from the north. Via dell'Oriuolo offers another useful angle, with the cathedral appearing as you walk toward the square.
Will a room facing the street be noisy?
Pedestrian streets can carry voices, deliveries and luggage noise into the evening or early morning. Ask about double glazing and whether a courtyard-facing room is available.
