Day trips from Corfu

Corfu makes a good base for days out. These are the trips worth the time, with how long each takes, how to get there on your own, and when a tour is the easier choice.

  1. Paleokastritsa

Paleokastritsa works best as an early start followed by a deliberately small plan: the monastery, one beach and perhaps a local boat ride. The coves are spread along a winding stretch of coast, so changing beaches repeatedly can consume the afternoon. Decide how you will return to Corfu Town before settling by the water, especially if you travel by bus.

Car or taxi, about 40 minutes from Corfu Town in light traffic

  2. Paxos and Antipaxos

A trip covering both islands needs more planning than simply buying a ferry ticket to Paxos. Excursion boats may combine coastal scenery, a swim near Antipaxos and time in a harbor, while passenger ferries serve a different purpose. Compare the actual stops and time ashore before booking. Keep the whole day clear and leave your evening plans flexible for the return to Corfu.

Organized boat excursion, a full day, with crossing times set by the operator

  3. Albania

For a first day across the water, choose between a relaxed visit to Saranda and a longer outing that includes Butrint. The ruins need onward road transport and enough walking time, so an organized connection can make the day easier. Confirm your travel documents, port check-in instructions and return sailing before booking, then keep the route within what the available crossing times allow.

Questions

Day trips from Corfu

What is the best day trip from Corfu?

Paleokastritsa is the one most visitors choose. Follow the road north west from town toward Paleokastritsa, allowing longer when beach traffic builds. Arrive early for easier parking. If taking a taxi, arrange the return pickup and meeting point before leaving the vehicle rather than assuming one will be waiting later.

Can I combine Paleokastritsa with Achilleion?

A car makes the combination possible, but the sights lie in different directions from town. Choose one if you want an unhurried beach afternoon, and confirm Achilleion access before planning both.

Does every Paxos ferry visit Antipaxos?

No. A passenger ferry to Paxos does not automatically include Antipaxos. Book an excursion naming both islands or separately confirm an onward local boat and your return connection.

Do I need my passport for this trip?

Take your passport and verify the current document and entry requirements for your nationality with official authorities. Check the ferry operator's boarding requirements as well before traveling.
