Jet d'eau: reaching the jetty and choosing your viewpoint
Choose between approaching the jet and watching it from the shore before setting out. The jetty brings you close to the falling water, but wind can send spray across the walking route. Quai Gustave-Ador gives you room to pause further back, while the opposite bank lets you include the fountain and the left-bank waterfront in one view.

The best time to visit
Pick a period with light wind for the jetty approach, and check the official operating information first. For photographs, compare the light from both banks rather than assuming one viewpoint always works best.
How to get to Jet d'eau
From the Rive tram stop, walk about 15 minutes via Jardin Anglais and Quai Gustave-Ador to the jetty entrance. The final approach is on foot, so allow additional time if you stop for photographs along the shore.
Tips for your visit
- Watch the direction of the spray before stepping onto the exposed part of the jetty.
- Keep phones and cameras protected if you approach the falling water.
- If the fountain stops, continue along Quai Gustave-Ador toward the parks and check operating information before returning.
Jet d'eau: reaching the jetty and choosing your viewpoint
Do I need to book the jetty walk?
No booking is needed for the public walk. Access is free, but you should follow any signs restricting entry because of conditions.
Will I get wet near the fountain?
You may get wet when wind carries spray across the jetty. Watch conditions from the shore first and protect anything sensitive to water.
Why might the fountain be switched off?
Weather and operational conditions can interrupt the fountain. Check official operating information rather than assuming it will run throughout your planned visit.
Where can I see it without using the jetty?
Quai Gustave-Ador offers a nearby shore view, while Quai du Mont-Blanc gives a view across the water. Both avoid the close approach to the spray.
